DEEP DISH APPLE MAPLE DESERT

Ingredients:
Thinly sliced apples, pared and sliced
To fit an 9 x 9 square baking dish
⅓ cup flour
¾ teaspoon nutmeg
¾ teaspoon cinnamon
¼ teaspoon salt
1 tablespoon butter
Pastry for 9-inch one crust pie
Instructions:
- Sift together sugar, flour, nutmeg, cinnamon and salt.
- Mix dry ingredients with apples. Put apple mixture into ungreased pan. Dot the top of the apple mixture with butter.
- Preheat oven to 410° F.
- Prepare pastry and roll into 10-inch square. (I used Pillsbury pie crust - but usually make my own). Place crust over the fruit mixture in the pan.
- Cut slits near the center.
- Fold edges under just inside edge of pan (I brushed the top of the crust with egg white).
- Bake 50 minutes or until juice begins to bubble through slits
Serve ― warm and with ice cream.
