Ingredients
- 2 cups cherries
- 3 large eggs
- 1 cup whole milk
- ½ cup maple sugar
- 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
- ½ teaspoon cinnamon
- ¾ cup all-purpose flour
- ¼ teaspoon Himalayan salt
- Butter for greasing the pan
- Top with a drizzle of maple syrup or maple sprinkles for topping.
Directions
- Remove your eggs and milk from the refrigerator about 30 minutes before baking.
- Preheat your oven to 350° F.
- Grease a pie pan generously with butter to keep it from sticking.
- Wash the cherries, pit them, and cut each one in half. You can also use frozen, just defrost them first.
- Spread your cherries across the bottom of your greased pan.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, maple sugar, vanilla, and cinnamon.
- In a sifter, add flour and salt, then sift into your wet egg mixture.
- Whisk until smooth. The batter will be like a thin pancake batter.
- Pour the batter into your pie pan over the cherries.
- Bake for 35-40 minutes, or until the edges are golden. Try not to open the oven during this time.
- Remove it from the oven and let it cool and set.
- This custard-like French dessert is delicious with ice cream and drizzled with a touch of your choice of maple syrup and a few maple sprinkles!
