Italian Strata for the WIN!

This delicious Italian Strata is a great casserole on its own, but top it with your favorite Wood's Maple Syrup and this dish is a home run!

Ingredients

  • 1 lb. ground Italian sausage
  • 10 large eggs
  • 2 cups milk
  • Salt & pepper to taste
  • 4 cups cubed bread
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese, divided
  • 1 cup of chopped fresh or thawed frozen spinach, drained
  • ¼ cup chopped onion
  • 1 cup sliced mushrooms
  • 1 cup halved grape tomatoes
  • Option — Bourbon Barrel Aged Maple Syrup

  • Option — Ghosted Maple Syrup

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 350° F and grease a 9”x13”  baking dish with butter.
  2. In a large skillet over medium-high heat, add sausage and cook, breaking up large pieces with a spoon, until golden, about 7 minutes.

  3. Remove from heat and let cool.
  4. In a large bowl, whisk together eggs and milk and season with salt and pepper.
  5. Gently fold in bread, 1 cup of cheese, spinach, mushrooms, tomatoes, onions, and cooked sausage.
  6. Pour mixture into prepared baking dish.
  7. Top with the remaining 1 cup cheese and bake for 40 to 45 minutes, until the cheese is golden and no liquid remains.
  8. Smother with your favorite Wood’s Vermont Maple Syrup:
